2025 Christmas Letter

It is such a joy to open my mailbox and find these Christmas gifts!

That experience was a vivid lesson for me in how healing works. 
 
At a meeting of her students, Mrs. Eddy told them, ". . . the grand secret of all your success is in your Christianity. Just in proportion as mortal sense is hushed, just in that proportion will healing be done…. We have God on our side to meet all questions, and I have never found an hour when He would not deliver me.” (MBE Christian Healer, pg 135)
 
That was what I had on my side when my dad called - the powerful awareness, found in that week’s Lesson on Love that Love was real, omnipresent, the final word.
 
You’ll remember that when you were in class, it was relatively easy to have that strong spiritual sense. And then, after returning home, there is a tendency to lament that this awareness and understanding has diminished.
 
Of course your capacity to respond to God, to rejoice in Love’s goodness and Mind’s completeness is fully intact. What’s changed is the proportion of time you spend consciously noticing this.
 
During class, almost every waking hour is spent either in the classroom or preparing for the next day’s session. I can tell you that when I’m preparing for Association or giving class, or, now, praying continually about lecturing, my healing improves; is faster, surer, and my recognition of God’s goodness and power is keener.
 
That day when I got the call from my father I had pretty much spent the morning in study. And the Lesson on Love had been especially inspiring. So there was no time wasted in fear, in wondering if “I knew enough to heal,” or if I “believed” Science - I knew that Love was right there meeting the need.
 
That is what is needed to heal in Christian Science.
 
Our Leader explained: "“It is Love that heals, only Love!” The student, Miss Nemi Robertson, repeated the question, “But when will we be able to do such work?” This time her teacher looked directly at her and said quietly, “When you believe what you say. I believe every statement of Truth that I make.”
 
"To one who had told her of a quick healing, she wrote, “Your consciousness of Truth healed instantaneously. Thus you see it is our fault not to be more filled with the realization of God, good, and so reflect this true consciousness.” (MBE, Christian Healer pls 151,152)
 
The only way to have the consciousness of Truth is to spend more time and thought with the real and eternal than with the unreal and temporal.
 
Our demonstration of this may have its ups and downs, but it is a clear and straightforward fact, and knowing that, we should naturally want more of the real and less of the unreal!
 
So… "“I will tell you the way to do it. It is to love! Just live love—be it—love, love, love. Do not know anything but Love. Be all love. There is nothing else. That will do the work. It will heal everything; it will raise the dead. Be nothing but love.” (WKMBE Vol. 1, pg 297)
 
That’s the perfect thought to cherish, to fight for, to rejoice in.
