About Caryl Emra
Caryl Emra grew up attending the Christian Science Sunday School in Freeport, New York. She owes her life to the prayer of Christian Science practitioner who her mother asked for treatment after 16 years of miscarriages and doctors insisting that she could not successfully complete a pregnancy. She experienced numerous healings as a child, loved church, the stories of Jesus, and Mary Baker Eddy’s explanations but found her faith challenged as a young adult and drifted away from church.
Fifteen years later, after much spiritual seeking and suffering from an extreme illness, she had an experience of God’s love that brought her back to Christian Science.
She returned to church, read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures through three times and applied for Primary Class instruction. Within a year after class she was in the full-time practice of Christian Science and received her listing in the Christian Science Journal in 1996. In 2007 she attended Normal Class and became a teacher of Christian Science.
She has been writing for the Christian Science Publishing Society since 1996. Click here for a list of her publications and recordings.
She became a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship in 2023.
She gratefully serves as a member of the Santa Fe, NM church and continues to enjoy music, cooking, Shakespeare, and hiking with her husband and their dog.
